The pen tool apparently is either a love or hate kind of thing. The video of course makes it look easy, and you can get any kind of shape that you would be able to physically do in a sketchpad. I didn't know that you could start with a general image to work with, and then completely altar it to make it the way you want. Even with a normal circle shape, you can edit it with the anchor points and use the handles to change the object to how you want.
